COUGARS NAME NEW COACH FOR 2018/19

Burlington, ON- Cougars hire alumnus Chad Wiseman to lead the way in 2018.

Burlington Cougars General Manager, Alex Bezerra, would like to announce the hiring of Head Coach Chad Wiseman for the 2018/19 season.

“As an organization we would like to thank everyone involved this past season- volunteers, staff, players and fans. The Cougars organization has a history of winning and moving players on to the next stage of their hockey and academic careers; we hope to continue that tradition with the hiring of new Head Coach Chad Wiseman.”

Wiseman, a former Cougars star in 1997-98, played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Mississauga and Plymouth, and was drafted in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by San Jose. He went on to have a successful fourteen year professional playing career in North America, Europe and Asia, before accepting a position with the New York Islanders (Skills Development) and New York Riveters (Head Coach/GM) in 2015.

“I am extremely honored and excited for the opportunity to coach the Burlington Cougars. The Cougars organization not only carries close personal ties, but also has many years of history and success. I look forward to the challenge and can’t wait to get started and aid in the development of our young student-athletes.” commented Wiseman.

"Chad is a professional hockey person- a skills coach, systems coach, development coach, all in one. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our dressing room and will be a coach that players are excited to be around. We see tremendous opportunity for Chad and our team to be successful both on and off the ice this season; our entire organization is dedicated to creating an experience that the City of Burlington and our players will embrace and appreciate.” said Alex Bezerra, Cougars General Manager.

With the hiring of Cougars alumnus Chad Wiseman, the Cougars organization hopes to continue to enhance the sense of culture and community in the City of Burlington.
“In addition to a successful on-ice product, we want to make a difference in the community; we hope to build on the “Cougars Country” mentality and our team brand will reflect that.” added Bezerra.

An official Press Release Date has been set for next Tuesday March 27 at 10am at Appleby Ice Centre to introduce the Coach.

The Cougars are excited for the start of the 2018/19 season. Stay tuned for further information on player signings, schedule and our upcoming Development Camp in April.
