Cougars Make Changes in Goal

The Burlington Cougars have acquired up-and-coming goalie Matt O'Connor from the Upper Canada Patriots in exchange for net-minder Jay Pelletier and forward Joe Catalano.

The 6'4, 179-pound O'Connor has a goals against average of 3.94 playing in 24 games for Upper Canada. By adding O'Connor it is a sure sign that the Cougars want to go far into the playoffs. Cougar fans should be happy with the goalies we have in place now. O'Connor has faced a lot of shots during his tenure with the Patriots, but with the solid defence of the Cougars, he will make this team better than it already was.

Burlington has also signed 6'0 178-pound left winger Jason Shaw from the OHL's Niagara IceDogs. NiagaraIceDogs.com describes the 1992-born Belleville native as follows: "Known for never backing down from a challenge and always giving maximum effort on the ice.  Jason has the makings of a solid teammate, and is expected to mold into an effectively capable player at both ends of the ice.  Not afraid to drop the gloves as an effective energy player."
