Records Fall for Cougars

Burlington Cougars' forward Josh Jooris is chasing down two prestigious franchise records this season.  The all-time assists record in one season is currently 84, set by his father, Mark Jooris in 1981-82 (40GP 43G-84A-127PTS).  Heading into Friday's action, Josh sits at 78 assists with 9 games remaining in the regular season.  Mark Jooris' 127pts is also a team record - which Josh is only 25 behind (41GP 24G-78A-102PTS).

His linemate, Greg Carey, has already blown away the single season franchise record for goals scored (formerly 51 by Lance Nethery in 1974-75).  Greg has dominated, scoring 60 times in 39 contests.  How many will he finish the season with, and will it ever be matched?  The all-time Ontario Jr. A record for goals in a regular season is 71 - a mark set by Darren Haydar in 1997-98 (now with the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters).

The team has matched the single season wins mark at 33, and is just 3 points shy of becoming the winningest roster in Cougars' history.  Last season's club earned 72 points - a record that will stand until at least game time on Saturday in Burlington.

If the Cougars are victorious on Friday night versus the St. Michael's Buzzers, you may witness history at their home game this Saturday.  Two wins over that weekend will earn them the highest team point total ever.  They will host the Streetsville Derbys, Saturday at Wave Twin Rinks.  The puck drops at 7:30pm.  Come out and support your record breaking club's amazing run!
